Summer Reading Program

My Mom and I are BIG on reading. We would read all day and all night if given the chance. My sisters (blood related, anyway :) ) unfortunately never picked up on that, but thank Heavens Megan is coming around! We really wanted to instill a love of books into Spegs, and even though he still has no interest in learning to read, he still loved to be read to. Baby steps. He adores the library, and told me once that the library was his favorite place, and that it made him happy to be there. YES!!! Thank you Jesus! This was the first summer that he was able to take part in the library's summer reading program. All we had to do was take home activity sheets that told us what kinds of books to read and fill them out once we had read the books. He filled out probably 5 of them, and each time he came to a check point, he got to pick out a prize, and his name was entered into a drawing for the grand prize. Mom got a call on Friday, saying that he was one of the winners! He was soooo excited! They had a little awards ceremony that afternoon, and the newspaper was there covering the event. He may get his picture in the paper on Tuesday! He got some very nice prizes! A giant gorilla he named Tuck, a wooden dinosaur puzzle, a $5 Walmart gift certificate, and If You Give a Moose a Muffin. Ohmyword. That was one of our favorite stories when we were little!  I am so happy that Spegs can love it just as much as we did!
